Anti wrinkle injections (also known as Botox) are a cosmetic injectable treatment that are used to temporarily improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. They are made from a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin which works by blocking nerve signals in the muscles, causing them to relax and smooth out. It targets the underlying muscle activity that causes wrinkles to form. By injecting botulinum toxin into specific facial muscles, it can help prevent the contraction of those muscles, leading to a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and lines.
Patients typically start to see results from anti wrinkle injections within 3-7 days after treatment, with the full effects becoming noticeable after about 2 weeks. The results of anti-wrinkle injections usually last between 3-4 months, however, this can vary depending on individual factors such as metabolism and muscle activity. Patients will have a two-week follow-up appointment where we will assess the results and add more if needed to achieve the desired outcome.
It is important to note that anti-wrinkle injections do not remove wrinkles that are already present. It primarily works on dynamic lines, which are wrinkles that appear when facial muscles are in motion, such as when smiling or frowning. Static lines, which are wrinkles that are present even at rest, may require additional treatments such as dermal fillers or polynucleotides for optimal results.
